Part of the more expansive and surely beautiful Judbarra national park, for us this was little more than a road side stop on the way to Katherine / Litchfield. We had made some distance, passing through Timber Creek for a failed lunch stop – sending the covid free kids in to make the purchase, they gathered the food, forgot to pay and then cried about how bad the hot chips were. Distracted by planning chats with Mum and Dad now in Darwin, we strategised the meet up in Litchfield – could we make it work?
Though many stay in Timber Creek, a midway point to Katherine, we were pleased to push on to a more isolated bush camp. Under a covid cloud we remained vigilant with use of the facilities at Sullivans and tried to keep our distance from fellow campers. The girls had other ideas though and setup their campsite jewellery shop, befriending grey nomads for chats and successful sales – commissions even! A frantic race against the setting sun to ensure the jewels were made and delivered before early risers left for their adventures the next day. We slept well here, and took our time in the morning, sickly but managing and endeavouring desperately to get ourselves fit and ready for family the pending reunion.
